Gloucester Hornets Soccer Program

Players can register with Gloucester Hornets for the Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association League (EODSAL) and the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) in 2010.  The Gloucester Hornets Soccer Club (GHSC) will endeavor to place players at the appropriate level of play based on the number of players and conventional pyramid concepts as well as technical assessment and prior knowledge of player skills.

There have been changes to the league format for 2010.  The ERSL, as of 2009, will no longer use the terms, “Premier” or “Developmental”.  Instead, ERSL will be using the designations of Tiers 3 (three) and 4 (four).  The EODSA League will have two divisions at U10, U11 and U12.  They have adopted the terms “Premier” and “Division 1” for the two tiered age groups.  The U9s will be considered “Division 1” and all other ages with just one tier will be referred to as  “Premier”.  The following chart attempts to explain the new league format.

Level 5 Premier – U10 to U18
Level 5 Division 1 – U9, U10, U11 and U12

Assessments (Tryouts) dates for U9 – U18 will be posted on our calendar by February 7th, 2010.

GHSC Program features:

  • Season starts late May and goes until the end of August, as per EODSAL or ERSL schedules.
  • Try Outs balancing independent and team coach evaluations with each player participating in 2 sessions
  • Technical Director support for the Head Coach to directly impact the team learning and performance during the season
  • Intensive Coaching Development courses in the pre season  .
  • EODSAL or ERSL play as per schedules (1 game per week).
  • Weekly team practices of 1.5 hours each or more based on team coaches.  Practice days and times will be selected by the club once the teams have been formed.
  • High quality ADIDAS Club Wear available at Houle Sports.
